Term 2 Week 9 Journal Writing

I think influenza A H1N1 is a flu virus.Influenza A H1N1 can be spread by sharing food or coming in contact with people who are infected by this virus.The countries in Asia that have people with Influenza A H1N1 are Malaysia,Japan,China,Korea and the Philippines.Countries screen passengers coming from affected countries and give out travel advisory to their citizens who are going aboard.I think the taking of temperature is not really that effective in preventing Influenza A H1N1 because it only helps to minimise the transmission of Influenza A H1N1.Singapore encourages people to observe a high level of personal hygiene and have a sense of social responsibility.I will make sure that I maintain a high level of personal hygiene in order to prevent the spread of Influenza A H1N1.

Term 2 Week 6

I think 'kindness' is about helping those in need and showing respect to others.I think it is important for people to be kind because by being kind to others we can make someone feel welcome.People can show their kindness by giving up their seats to those who need it more on board the train or the bus and there are also many other ways of showing their kindness too.I had help a blind man cross the road and I felt happy after what I had done.I would like to help out at the old folks home if I had the chance.I can tell my friends to show kindness and tell them what will happen if we showed kindness to other people.

Term 2 Week 5

Earth Day is important to me because I think it is meaningful.I understand by the phrase 'save the Earth' that I should protect the earth and not harm it.I think it is important to recycle,reuse and reduce because by doing so,we can save the earth.I can save the earth by not littering,using both sides of a paper,conserving water and many others.My family and I can switch off the lights at home for 'Earth Day'.

Term 2 Week 3

I like the school library because the library has many books for pupils to read and borrow.As far as the school's facilities are concerned,I think they are okay.However I hope we could have a bigger canteen where more seats are easily available.For those who are not having their meals,they should not be allowed to occupy the seats.Another area that the school should look into is to erect a round mirror next to the drop off or pick up shutter for the safety of the pupils crossing from the side gate to look out for any incoming vehicle turning left to the back carpark.

Term 2 Week 2

We have to eat healthy food such as vegetables and fruits.Children and adults like to eat unhealthy food like french fries and fried chicken wings.The reason why we have to eat healthily is because we can live a healthy life by doing so.We can get diabetes or obesity if we eat too much unhealthy food.I like to eat fruits and vegetables because they are healthy types of food.I support the school's campaign in encouraging pupils to eat more fruits and vegetables.I suggest that the school should create games about the benefits of eating lots of fruits and vegetables.

Term 2 Week 1 Journal Writing

I think earth hour is about to saving the earth.It is held on the 28 of March this year . I think they are organising this event to preserve the earth.People who are paticipating this event will switch off the lights in the house for an hour.I can watch movies with my family and friends.The earth is also facing financial crisis.We can cut on our spendings and save up money.

Term 1 Week 8 Journal Writing

I think the school gets the pupils to read in the morning because it helps us to improve our English and also gain more knowledge. I like this reading programme because if I do not have the time to read at home,at least I can read in school.I do like reading because it helps me put my mind off school work and relax.I like to read fictional books especially. Reading will help me in my vocabulary and sentence formation. The school can encourage reading by having more variety of books available for borrowing. I like to read the 'Chronicles Of Narnia' written by C.S Lewis because the stories are interesting and adventurous.

Term 1 Week 7 Journal Writing

I have tuition on Saturdays and I have them once a week.I spend about two hours on it.I am involved in this activity because it helps me to do well for my examinations.I think it is necessary for me because I can learn more than what the school teaches me.I think this activity does not affect my studies.I feel stressed out with this activity sometimes because if I have lots of homework and I also have tuition on that day,I may not have the time to finish my homework and get stressed up.I think pupils should have outside school activities or they would play too much and neglect thir studies.

Term 1 Week 6 Journal Writing

'Passion for learning' refer to one's desire or eagerness to learn.It is necessary because people will then be self motivated to learn instead of having to be forced to learn.I have read in the newspapers about an old man and an woman who are still learning at such an old age.They either study on their own or attend night classes or through online learning courses.Yes, I think I have a passion for learning because I hope to do well in my PSLE.From my target setting,I think I have started to develope my passion for learning.Next I should put in effort to ensure that I put in the effort to ensure that I can achieve my target for all the subjects.

Term 1 Week 5 Journal Writing

I think the purpose of setting targets for the various subjects is that it helps us work towards it and achieve it.I think this is useful because it motivates me .I set my targets based on my recent examination results and I would study hard to achieve them.My parents are encouraging me to work hard to acieve my targets.I would motivate myself to achieve my targets by telling myself that if I want to achieve my targets,I would have to work hard for it.The teachers and the school can help me achieve my targets by motivating and encouraging me to study hard and achieve my targets.

Term 1 Week 4 Journal Writing

I celebrate Chinese New Yesr and Christmas.I celebrate these festivals as I am a chinese and also a christian respectively.I celebrate Chinese New Year by visiting the homes of my relatives,exchanging oranges,giving red packets to them and also having the reunion dinner.I celebrate christmas by going to the church on the day of christmas.We can develop stronger bonds among the various races in Singapore by respecting other races's religion and treating all the races equally.

Total Defence Day

I live in my home country 'Singapore' and I have my family and friends here. I will try my best to defend it because it is my homeland and I should defend it at all cost. There are a few ways in which I can defend it. Firstly, I will try to keep the country clean and green by not littering in our surroundings or polluting the air. Secondly I should take pride in singing the national anthem 'Majullah Singapura' and standing in attention when the flag is raised. Thirdly I should always respect the different religions and races in my country through participation of racial harmony activities and enjoying the different cuisines.
